By Road
If you are travelling to Mautern from the west using the Westautobahn A1/E4, leave the motorway at the Melk exit and then follow the B33 main road. If you are arriving from the east, the best option is to follow the S33 dual carriageway (from St. Pölten) or the S5 (from Vienna). At the Danube bridge in Traismauer take the exit for the B33 to Mautern.
By Rail and Bus
The nearest train station is in Krems an der Donau (connections to the Franz-Josef line to Vienna, the Kamptal Railway and St. Pölten). Trains to St. Pölten also stop in the neighbouring village of Furth-Palt.
Several bus routes connect Krems to Mautern. The Wachau-Linie WL2 operates every one to two hours on the right bank. Local bus routes extend the network.
